The musicians in Devoted2You are seasoned road warriors with decades of performing and touring under their belts. They have been lifelong fans and "devotees" of The Everly Brothers. With this show we pay homage to The Everly Brothers and their musical legacy.
LEGACY
The Everly Brothers were among the selective few who really had a big influence on the development of rock and pop music in the 20th century. Apart from their fabulous harmony singing the brothers had a huge amount of hit singles of which many have become standards and Don’s guitar playing inspired many young musicians on their road to fame in the sixties and onwards. Keith Richards called Don Everly one of the finest rhythm guitar players in the world.
They also were highly innovative in the studio something that became only standard practice in pop and rock after The Beatles took the world by storm. A good example of this is the recording of the song Lucille (1960) which featured 8 guitar players playing the same riff each slightly out of tune with one another to create a fuller sound.
However, in the eyes of the public, Don & Phil were and always will be recognized for their angelic and unequaled harmony vocals that influenced major rock & pop acts like The Beatles, The Hollies, Simon & Garfunkel, The Eagles, REM and many many more. It’s safe to say that without the Everlys popular music would have sounded a lot different……………………………….
Born of a reunion show
Starting out, the idea was to emulate the Everly Brothers 1983 reunion concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London, UK. After rehearsals began we realized that there was so much more to their musical catalogue and added some true gems to the set list. The last touch was to add a multi media presentation to the show.
Taking the show on the road
We’re packing up the gear for an extended Northeastern U.S. tour of theaters, festivals and arts centers in support of the show. Our set list will prominently feature all the hits but also dive into songs the brothers covered as well as some B sides and deep tracks. Check out our tour page for when we’ll be playing near you.
